  •  We purposely breed our goats in October so that they have their kids in March. This way the weather is less stressful on the moms and kids (and us) and spring is leafing out.

  •  Our kids are ready to go to their new homes at 12 weeks old, once they are weaned. This gives them the benefit of plenty of time with their mom and other kids to play with. We do not sell "bottle babies" unless there are extenuating circumstances.

  •  We choose not to disbud or dehorn our kids.

  •  We keep track of FAMACHAs, as well as constantly assessing how our goats look and behave to determine their health.  We routinely us a herbal parasite formula preventative/dewormer. We do fecal exams routinely, and if our goats are found to have parasites we treat appropriately.

  •  Our goats receive the CD&T vaccine as recommended.

  •  Our male kids are wethered (banded) around 12 weeks of age if they are not chosen to remain entire to use for breeding. Please let us know if you want us to wether your baby goat or not when you contact us.

  • Our goats have constant access to individual loose minerals and they are able to make their own instinctive choices as to what particular minerals they require at any specific time. (They are amazingly capable of doing this correctly and the results speak for themselves!)

  • Our kids are sold with Registration with The Myotonic Goat Registry (MGR) pending.. as long as they are of the quality standard for breeding or showing. When you take your goat home, you will have the necessary papers given to you to be able to transfer your new goat registration to you or your farm's name.

Goats for different jobs...
Myotonics are bred to be a meat goat and can be used for dairy, however, we prefer to sell them for the following...

             Breeding

Our Myotonics are registered with the Myotonic Goat Registry (MGR). When you purchase one, you will receive transfer paperwork to fill out with your information and send in to the Registry to have the ownership transferred into your, or your farm's name. You will be required to have a membership in the Registry to register a goat. You are not obligated to transfer registration if you don't want to or are not planning on breeding (you will have a bill of sale proving your ownership). Registration can increase the value of your goat for breeding or sale.

We only breed goats that have the sought after qualities of Fainting Goats, as described on the MGR website, to pass along to their offspring.

Our goats are a 5/6 or 6/6 on the Fainting Scale.

Our Buck, "Syncope Farms Tiger Oak", passes on his good conformation,

attitude, and, often his colorful moonspots adorn his kids as well. All have beautiful blue eyes. "Tiger" is horned, but some of our does are  naturally polled, so we get a mix of both in the kids.

Friendly companions who can weed for you!

Myotonic goats are known for their friendly and calm nature, making them perfect companions for individuals or families looking for loving animals to add to their home.

Wethers (neutered males) often make the best companions! Female (does) can also be very friendly, but sometimes tend to be a little more flighty.

Goats are wethered when the breeder determines that they do not meet all of the strict standards to be a breeding buck, or, the farm just does not need another buck.

We have three beloved wethers on the farm who will be with us always. Buddy, Ash and Artie.

Let us know if you are looking for a wether, we may have one or two available.

Goats, as with all herd animals, don't want to be an

"only (goat ) child".

Goats need at least one compatable companion to be happy. A second goat is ideal,

but a sheep, or other small ruminant could suffice.

We want our babies to go to a happy, low-stress home when they leave all their goat friends and family to begin their new life with you.

                Show

We do not show our goats. After showing horses for many years, it is just isn't something that we have been drawn to do.

However, we do breed for show quality. If you plan to show Myotonics, we recommend that, if you are not already familiar with showing fainters, that you do some research into what qualities you are looking for and, make informed choices when choosing your new show goat. We can guide you as to which goat has the best conformation, but can't tell you much about the goat show world. The Myotonic Goat Registry  (MGR) is a wonderful resource for information.
